About the Author: Jhumpa Lahiri, born Nilanjana Sudeshna Lahiri, is a renowned author of Indian American descent. She is a member of the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities. In addition to this book, Lahiri has authored a collection of short stories titled "Interpreter of Maladies" and novels such as "The Namesake" and "The Lowland." Her notable achievements include receiving the Pulitzer Prize in the fiction category, as well as being nominated for the National Book Award for Fiction and the Man Booker Prize.
